Position Summary
The Human Resource Manager will assist in leading and directing the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Duties/Responsibilities (2025):

  • Maintains accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of human resources files and records.
  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Answers frequently asked questions regarding HR processes, employee benefits, etc., and provides support and guidance to HR staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise. May be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations. Refer more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Assists in overseeing employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Handles discipline and termination of employees in good faith and in accordance with company policy.
  • Assists leadership with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Assist HR leadership with special projects.
  • Assists with new hire orientation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities (2026 and Forward):

  • All of the above, plus:
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • Meets with junior staff quarterly to survey their experience, take questions, and receive feedback.

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the HR department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations of HR staff.

Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree required. Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields preferred.
    • A minimum of two years of human resource management experience is preferred.
    • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, or an equivalent certification required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

compliance associate

Overview
MBA Consulting Group, a compliance and accounting firm serving the progressive community, is hiring an Associate. This role has the opportunity to be based in DC or embedded on one of our campaign accounts. This position will report to the Compliance Director and will be responsible for general bookkeeping and maintaining the compliance database for our clients. Duties include:

  • Process campaign contributions into compliance database and screening for compliance issues
  • Reconcile bank accounts, reconcile book balance to reporting balance
  • Generate simplified income and expense reports as needed
  • Track and process expenses for campaign
  • Interact with vendors and maintain vendor files including insurance files
  • Correspond with vendors and donors on client’s behalf

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prior experience with political organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2 years’ campaign experience, experience with state or federal campaign finance law compliance preferred
  • Experience in Excel
  • Knowledge of compliance database software, NGP preferred
  • Experienced in use of internet, social media and online search engines
  • Excellent communications skills required, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and competing demands
  • Ability to be dynamic and adapt to meet the organization’s changing needs
  • Must be ethical and value integrity, be able to pass a background check
